A test of patience

Today I took a complete rest day after yesterday’s experience.

I hope this week I can cross-train and keep my cardiovascular activity up, while minimizing any impact to my ankle/knee. I am a big fan of boots and flats, but wore sneakers today with Dr. Scholls inserts in them.  I bought them with $10 extra bucks back from CVS. I think it was the first time I ever wore sneakers outside of the house (other than during my runs/work outs). Amazing that $12 orthopedic inserts can make such a difference. It offers some extra support in my shoes -especially those that are more designed for style rather than comfort. These helped me keep some pressure off my heel and minimized the sharp pains that I feeling yesterday. My leg still feels a bit tight, but A TON better compared to yesterday. I still am going to take it easy to prevent any injuries.  I am continuing to ice too.

This is a big test of patience for me. I really love running and working out and try to be active at least 6 times a week…so I am feeling a bit ancy.

Good news – I am at $4,425 with my fundraising goal.  I hope I can reach $5,000 by the end of January.  That would be fabulous!  I am so grateful to all my supporters.

Done with school…yet still a busy bee

Officially done with school! Finished my last MBA class ever tonight.  I thought I’d be home early tonight, but opted to take up my professor’s offer in buying a round of beers for his students. So off to the bar I went after class.  Oh boy, and it is only Monday.

I was tempted to go home, knowing I have to train tomorrow – but experience tells me every time I do something I am not really up for I end up having fun. So it means I will likely not work out tomorrow morning since its 11:40 pm as I am writing this post. That means I will have to run tomorrow evening when I get out of work.  I somehow always make myself busy, but training is a priority now that school is done. I had tentative plans to hang out with someone after work for drinks, but now will have to run instead.  People that graduated before me always warned me that you quickly find things to fill up your free time. I guess I have. Like I said before, I am lucky the people in my life understand how important this goal and training is to me.

Today was a rest day. Lucky for me since my legs were feeling a bit sore for yesterday’s 18 mile run.  Probably not the smartest idea to wear healed boots today at work.  I secretly iced my legs under my desk as I was working.  Hopefully tomorrow I will be good to go!
